Here i am in England. Rain, snow and more rain - It really does not feel like spring at all. However it is the first day of spring and i thought that i would do Missglamourazzi's 'I love spring tag' to try and cheer me up! So here goes:

• Choose a colour which is 2 or more shades lighter than your hair colour if you are brunette (light or dark). This will prevent your brows from looking way too dark.
• If you are using an eyeshadow, try to stroke the shadow, using an angled brush, through your brows to prevent a solid, block colour.
• If you are using a pencil, make sure it is sharpened! You want as much control over the shape as you can, and a blunt pencil will not help this.

Recording yourself; a great way to learn

So, for those of you who are taking a language exam will know that doing the speaking part can be very daunting! I just wanted to share with you all how i cope with my oral exams and learning what i have to say.

For whatever language you are taking, these steps should help you to do really well!

Preparation:

• Make sure that you know what you have to include within your piece, whether this be the tenses or using a particular word.
• Start to write your piece as soon as you know that you will have to be doing the exam, whilst you have the time, take advantage of it!
• As soon as you have written you piece and got it checked (by your teacher etc) Start learning it! I can not emphasise how important this is. If you say, have two weeks until the real thing, think of the two weeks as a head start. By the two weeks are up, you will have practised a lot and therefore it will sound much more fluent.
• Record yourself! This is probably the best thing i have ever done to learn a language piece. Most smart phones or ipods etc have a voice recording function where you will be able to do this. Then simply listen to it over and over again. This will get it into your head and help you to remember how to pronounce words. 
•  If you have a visual memory, maybe draw some pictures to remember the order of your sentences.
• Practice it out loud. This is SO useful as it helps you to get into the flow of words.
• Get a friend or a parent to listen to you and make sure what you are saying is the right thing!

So i bought one of the Rimmel Apocalips lip glosses the other day in great excitement, only to be, well let down.


i was thoroughly looking forward to trying this as i have been wanting to get a really pigmented lip gloss for a really long time now, so when i saw that these had come out, i wanted to try them. I picked up the colour 'Apocaliptic' which is a bright fuchsia.



I don't want to be overly critical of this product as I was VERY impressed with the pigmentation when swatching it on my hand and applying to my lips, it is a really rich, creamy texture that applies really well. The doe foot applicator is good in the way that it is pointed so you can really get into your cupid's bow, but it is almost solid so it doesn't really feel like you can bend it over your lips like you normally would with a doe foot applicator.

However, although this looks beautiful when you've just applied it, about 15/20 minutes down the line, it bleeds REALLY badly around the edges of my lips. Due to the fact that it is a really bright, pigmented colour, it really does stain where it has bled into the lines of skin around my lips. It is really hard to get off and applying more just makes it look more and more smudged. I guess this could be solved with a lip liner, but it isn't ideal.


The next, not so great thing about them is that they have this slightly odd scent. It isn't so unpleasant that i want to remove it but it is a bit weird. It is almost like an artificial citrus fruit mixed with makeup remover or something. If you smell it, you'll know what i mean.

So overall, i am not that impressed with this, although i really wanted to be. I think the fact that it bleeds could be solved with a lighter one of the colours in the range. These are not that expensive (£5.99) but i still kinda think i have wasted my money.

So, i have always eyed up the YSL glossy stains, and been so tempted to buy one, but the price tag really put me off. So when i heard that L'oreal were coming out with a really similar product i literally ran to go and get these when i heard they had eventually been released in the UK.

I picked up 3 shades as in my local Superdrug, there was a 3 for 2 offer (yay!!). These shades were '501 Bonnie', '300 Juliet' and '102 Romy'. I chose these 3 colours due to the fact that i wanted a dark pink shade hence i got Juliet, Bonnie attracted me as i thought it would be flattering on my light Olive skin tone, and i got Romy as i wanted to try a lighter pink which would be more wearable. There are a few lilacy tones but i think they would come out much more pinky. There is also a darker terracotta shade called '200 princess' but i really thought it was too orange and wouldn't be as wearable due to the fact orange is hard to wear at any other time than summer.


I had read a lot about them before hand so i was aware that they tend to dry a different colour that is shown on the outside of the tube. This really is true because although the 'window' is showing the actual product inside, when you swatch it, it really is a different colour. The colour also changes due to the amount of layers you apply. This really is not a negative point but something to be aware of before purchasing.

The packaging for these products is amazing, i love it! If you were unaware that L'oreal was a drugstore brand, i think that you would think these were high end products. They are also really small and light which is nicer than a really heavy/long/bulky lip product to carry around.

When you apply the product, it really feels as if you are applying a light layer of creamy butter, they are so soft on the lips. They are also shiny and glossy without being sticky which is such a nice change for a normal lipgloss. The first layer is often very sheer although after waiting a few moments and then applying a second layer, you start to see the true colour. This is another great aspect, the colour is really buildable and it doesn't feel like you are applying more and more sticky gloss to your lips, only intensifying the colour.

These products do have a slight scent to them which is so slight that it is hardly worth mentioning. They have the scent that most L'oreal lip products have, which to be honest i really like! However, i doubt this would put anyone off buying them. I have read reviews stating they have a strong berry scent but as a hater of berry scents, this really is not bad at all.

The staining power of these glosses appears to be very good, depending on the colour and the amount of layers (the darker and more layers, the longer lasting). The swatches on my hand have also stained, even after washing and scrubbing my hands several times!

So overall I was incredibly impressed by these products and i highly recommend them. The Price of them normally in the UK is £7.99, but with the 3 for 2 offer, these came to £15.98, around £5 each: only about 1/5 of the price of the YSL ones!
